CENTRAL HIGHLANDS TOUR OF SRI LANKA

This itinerary covers the central highlands of Sri Lanka, one of the UNESCO world heritage sites. You can experience some natural wonders like waterfalls and more endemic species of flora and fauna. You will also visit the world’s end, tea plantation and tea factory, Elephant orphanage and do a city tour of Kandy to conclude the tour with a memorable experience in the last Kingdom of Sri Lanka.

Day 01

ARRIVE / COLOMBO

  • On arrival at the Bandaranaike International airport, you will be warmly greeted by your very own chauffeur guide and escorted to Colombo (Approx. 1 hour drive).
  • Spend Overnight in the Hotel. Accommodation will be rooms with ensuite facilities. Your stay is on bed & breakfast basis.

Day 02

COLOMBO / NUWARA ELIYA

  • Drive to Nuwara Eliya (approx. 5 hours drive). Route visit Devon & St. Claire’s waterfalls.
  • Afternoon: You will do the city tour of Nuwara Eliya. Surrounded by hills and tea plantations, the town of Nuwara Eliya enjoys spring-like weather throughout the year. A favorite retreat of the British during colonial times, the town is dotted with English country style houses and half-timbered bungalows.
  • Spend Overnight in Hotel. Accommodation will be rooms with ensuite facilities. Your stay is on bed & breakfast basis.

Day 03

NUWARA ELIYA / HORTON PLAINS

  • Morning: Make a pre-dawn start with a packed breakfast to Horton Plains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and take a guided walk along the nature trails to a viewpoint known as World’s End.
  • Afternoon: visit a Tea Plantation & a Tea Factory where the best tea in the world is produced. Today more than 200,000 hectares in highlands and other areas all over the country, are covered with Tea plantations and around 300 million Kilograms, with a 25% of world tea exports are done by Sri Lanka, as the World’s largest Tea exporter.
  • Spend Overnight in Hotel. Accommodation will be rooms with ensuite facilities. Your stay is on bed & breakfast basis.

Day 04

NUWARA ELIYA / KANDY

  • Morning: Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage where you can witness more Asian elephants in one location. The number of elephants have increased up to 65 now; including Baby Elephants brought from various locations of Sri Lanka, and also more than 25 babies born, as a result of the captive breeding programme. The best time to visit is the feeding times and the bathing times when all the elephants are taken to the river close by.
  • Afternoon: You will do the city tour of Kandy including a visit to the temple of the sacred tooth relic, upper lake drive, market square, gem lapidary, etc.
  • Spend Overnight in Kandy. Accommodation will be rooms with ensuite facilities. Your stay is on bed & breakfast basis.

Day 05

KANDY / AIRPORT

  • Today, we will be driving back to Airport (approx. 3 hours drive) for your departure.
